UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind is an organization dedicated to fighting childhood obesity by providing middle and high schools with a comprehensive physical education program that includes a state-of-the-art fitness center, an innovative exercise curriculum and professional development for physical education teachers.

Over the past 20 years, our program has provided state-of-the-art fitness centers to 151 schools through our comprehensive Fitness Center Grant. In addition, we have offered maintenance and technology grants with our program. Maintaining and supporting the schools with our program takes time, resources, and commitment.
During the 2019-2020 school year, instead of expanding our program to new schools or districts, we will be focusing on enhancing our existing centers, providing professional development, and updating our curriculum.
According to the LA County Department of Public Health, 42% of children are obese or overweight.
