Pediatric Urology at UCLA

Parents looking for answers to their child's genitourinary problems will find the most advanced, comprehensive pediatric urology treatment services available at the Clark-Morrison Children's Urological Center at UCLA.

Pediatric Urology at UCLA

When a child has a condition affecting the urinary tract, their needs are very different from adults. We aim to partner with parents and families to provide the most advanced, comprehensive and individually tailored care for each child. From the simplest to the most complex, the Clark-Morrison Children's Urological Center at UCLA addresses a wide range of pediatric urologic conditions affecting the kidneys, ureters, bladder or genitalia, such as:

  • Hydronephrosis
  • Vesicoureteral reflux
  • Spina bifida, neurogenic bladder
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Dysfunctional elimination
  • Hypospadias
  • Differences in sexual development
  • Varicocele or undescended testis
  • Kidney stones
  • Urologic cancers
  • Complex urogenital reconstruction
  • Wilms Tumor

With Your Child in Mind

The Center provides a comprehensive approach to pediatric urology care. Our goal is to minimize your child's discomfort and stress while streamlining the diagnostic and treatment process. In many cases, parents can obtain a treatment recommendation on their first visit. The Center offers both open and minimally invasive diagnostic testing and treatment options, and a multidisciplinary approach to pediatric urology care. Our physicians provide office-based and surgical care in both Santa Monica and Westwood locations.

Multidisciplinary Care

Pediatric urologists at the Center work in consultation with radiologists, orthopedists, endocrinologists, nephrologists, neurosurgeons and specialized pediatric nurses to provide care for children with urologic conditions.

In 1999, a grant from the Wallis Foundation of Santa Barbara funded the development of the Spina Bifida Center to help children with this condition become healthy, independent adults The UCLA Health – Spina Bifida Clinic at the Clark-Morrison Children’s Urology consist of a multidisciplinary team of specialized physicians, experienced nurses, radiology technicians, and care coordinators dedicated to caring for children who have spinal cord abnormalities. We provide you and your child with the ease of scheduling multidisciplinary appointments in one location with the goal of delivering the highest quality coordinated care.

Robotic surgery is offered at Clark-Morrison Children's Urological Center at UCLA for certain upper- and lower- urinary tract reconstructive procedures. Many common procedures such as a pyeloplasty or uretero-ureterostomy may be performed in a minimally invasive fashion with robotics in children as young as 6 months of age in select patients. Potential benefits of robotic surgery include decreased hospitalization time, faster return to typical activities with less pain, and improved cosmesis due to smaller incisions.

UCLA Pediatric Urology Research and Innovation

In a unique and focused field such as pediatric urology, collaboration with multiple pediatric hospitals is needed to better understand rare conditions and bring about improvement in pediatric care. To that end, the UCLA Pediatric Urology Division at Mattel Children’s Hospital has joined in research efforts with both The Western Pediatric Urology Consortium and the Pediatric KIDney Stone Care Improvement Network (PKIDS). Through their combined experience, the division works with these and other research partners to provide the most up-to-date surgical care for the range of pediatric urologic conditions.  For more information about pediatric urology research at UCLA >
