Contact/appointment line for Dr. Shibayama: 310-206-1164

Dr. Vivian Shibayama OD FAAO FSLS completed her Bachelor's degree at the University of California Irvine and graduated cum laude from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She completed a specialty contact lens fellowship at Stein Eye Institute and stayed on staff taking over the direction of the specialty contact lens practice. Her practice consists of 80% custom fits to treat conditions such as keratoconus, corneal transplants, scars, ocular surface disease, post-refractive ectasia, and infantile aphakia. Being with the university has allowed her to be on the cutting edge of technology, fitting all types of lenses such as custom rigid, soft, hybrid, prosthetic soft, and scleral lenses. Dr. Shibayama offers Eyeprint Pro custom-molded fluid-filled scleral lenses that are made to fit the contour of a patient's eye perfectly.

Dr. Shibayama also fits contact lenses for patients with normal refractive errors: custom made soft or rigid contacts, single vision, or multifocal.

In 2018, Dr. Shibayama and Dr. Saba Al Hashimi MD opened the Dry eye Center: a practice focused on treating patients with severe ocular surface disease including Sjogren's syndrome, Steven-Johnson syndrome, neurotrophic keratitis, exposure keratopathy, and Graft vs Host Disease, . Starting with a thorough tear analysis involving tear samples and imaging, a customized treatment plan is created for the patient. The dry eye center offers the newest technology in treating the ocular surface including Lipiflow, Blephex, Intense pulsed light, and fluid-filled scleral lenses.
