About UCLA Family Medicine

Consistent with the tripartite mission of the school of medicine, that is, patient care, medical education and research, we seek to improve the health and health care of families and communities in the Los Angeles metropolitan area through the provision of cost effective, accessible, high quality medical care for all. Further, we sponsor an extensive medical education program for medical students, family medicine residents, fellows and other trainees. Finally, our research division addresses the intercept between academia and community through a focus on vulnerable, elderly and underserved populations.

Education

Education is in all that we do as faculty in the Department of Family Medicine. It is the top priority in our work with thirty-six of the smartest residents from around the country and our passion when we interact with medical students on a daily basis through their formal courses as well as in their community outreach. It is also what drives the huge success of our many fellowships in areas such as sports medicine, addiction and behavioral medicine, and clinical scholars.
