Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to participate?

All internal medicine residents, in the UCLA Internal Medicine residency program, UCLA Medicine Pediatrics residency program, and UCLA-affiliated internal medicine residency programs (Olive View-UCLA; Harbor-UCLA; Kaiser Permanente; Cedars-Sinai; Kern Medical Center).

Can I submit an abstract even if I am unable to attend the program on May 18?

Yes, even if you are unable to attend the May 18th event we still encourage you to submit an abstract and poster. Posters for those unable to attend in person will be displayed online during and following the event.

Are there specific criteria I need to follow for the abstract and poster?

Please follow the abstract and poster guidelines available.

If attending the event in person, is there a required time frame the resident has to stay by their poster?

For those able to attend the event in person, posters will be printed and displayed on site. The poster session is scheduled from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm on May 18th and we request that you stand by your poster to present your research to conference guests during that timeframe.

How will I know if I have been selected to present my work?

Each Program Director will select one trainee from their group to present their work as an oral presentation during the event. The selected presenter will be notified by their Program Director and will be asked to submit a slide deck for their presentation.

Can I present research already presented at another conference/event?

Yes! The purpose of Solomon Scholars Research Day is to share your work with the UCLA community; we welcome work presented elsewhere. However, please submit your abstract, mentor acknowledgement form, and poster following the instructions.
