HEaL Trauma Program

Healing, Empowering, and Liberating (HEaL) Trauma Care

Together we can heal trauma

Each year, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center provides advanced trauma care to more than 1,700 critically injured patients. But healing from trauma involves more than treating physical injuries—it also requires addressing the emotional, psychological, and social effects that can last long after the body recovers.

The UCLA Healing, Empowering, and Liberating (HEaL) Trauma Program takes a comprehensive, whole-person approach to recovery. Through close collaboration with healthcare professionals, educators, researchers, and community partners, we help survivors move forward with strength and resilience.

Trauma is one of the leading public health challenges in the United States. Mental health struggles, substance use disorders, and adverse social drivers of health can increase the risk of trauma and complicate recovery.

The UCLA Health response

In 2024, UCLA launched the HEaL Trauma Program to provide holistic, trauma-informed care that extends beyond the hospital. By bridging medical treatment, mental health support, and community-based resources, we move beyond siloed models to deliver comprehensive care.
