The UCLA IMG Program actively seeks scholars who are committed to Family Medicine and primary care, especially for underserved communities. Upon entering the program, all IMG scholars agree to pursue a Family Medicine residence in California, and to continue working in a federally-designated primary care shortage area in California for at least two years beyond completion of their residencies.

The UCLA IMG Program is an innovative solution addressing California’s most pressing healthcare provider needs by:

  • Adding significantly to the supply of primary care physicians;
  • Producing physicians who already have the linguistic skills and cultural affinities to provide effective care for the state’s majority Hispanic population;
  • Developing a cadre of family physicians committed to working in California’s most-underserved communities.
