Therapeutic Program: Participation in the therapeutic program is essential in order to ensure benefit from the hospital stay. A straightforward commitment to be open and honest about the process of recovery is essential during treatment. In addition to helping patients learn new skills, groups and activities are also used to help assess the patient’s individual needs. Use of illicit drugs in this program is strictly prohibited and may lead to discharge.

Discharge Planning: Discharge planning begins on the day of admission. The type of discharge planning needed varies from patient to patient and may include referrals for treatment after you are discharged, placement, or support groups. The patient and the assigned treatment team participate in this important decision making activity.

Activity Levels: Based upon your treatment requirements, an “Activity Level” (called “AL”) will be assigned on admission. The AL may change during the hospitalization as clinically indicated. The activity levels are as follows:

ALI: Restrict to the unit.

ALII: May leave the unit for tests or outings 1:1.

ALIII: May leave unit with staff as part of a patient group. 1:1 with staff for tests.

ALIV: May leave the unit with staff as a part of a patient group. May go to tests with hospital escort. May go off the unit with staff for designated therapeutic activities.

There are also higher activity levels, designating higher levels of responsibility, which may be ordered as appropriate by your treatment team.

Visitors: Visitors are allowed only during visiting hours so that visits don’t conflict with the therapeutic program. Visitors are asked to check in with the greeter initially and then with nursing staff to so staff may check belongings for items not allowed on the units. We know that it is impossible for visitors to know all items which may be considered contraband, so staff must ensure your safety and sobriety as much as possible by checking all items brought to you while in the hospital. The use of cell phones is not permitted on the unit by visitors and staff may ask to have your belongings locked in the cubby in the patient’s room you are visiting.
