2018 Donate Life Run/Walk

The 2018 Donate Life Walk/Run was a very successful event on Saturday, April 28, 2018 for the UCLA Health Team. We had about 90 total participants representing UCLA Health. We raised collaboratively over $6,000. We appreciate all the participants, donors, UCLA Health administration, marketing team and Health and Wellness department for helping to make the UCLA Health team possible. As part of the UCLA Health Team, “Team Lung Strong UCLA” was started by one of our unit’s lung transplant recipient Mr. Jim Weingarten in April 2016 and in its 3rd year of participating this annual event celebrating the lives of organ transplant donors, recipients and their families. The team is composed of his family members, friends and MICU staff members.

The first UCLA Donate Life Run Walk team initiated by a patient, “Team Lung Strong UCLA” continues to grow each year, attracting more attendees from all walks of life. This year, the MICU medical director Dr. Rajan Saggar, Dr. Christopher Wray from Anesthesia, Dr. Neha Agarwal from medicine service also joined the nursing staff and families from MICU at the event. It is a very inspiring and uplifting experience for all of us as health care providers. Our support for our pre- and post-transplant patients will continue to grow strong in alignment of the UCLA Health’s vision of “healing humankind, one patient at a time, by improving health, alleviating suffering, and delivering acts of kindness.”
