Mitra Nejad, MD
Dr. Nejad is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and clinical instructor at the UCLA Stein Eye Institute and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She is Board Certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology and practices general ophthalmology with a focus on refractive cataract surgery, corneal refractive surgery (LASIK), PRK, pterygium surgery and eyelid surgery.
She utilizes the full spectrum of the latest technology available for treatment of cataracts including femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery, intra-operative aberrometry, advanced technology lenses (toric, multifocal, and extended-depth-of-field), as well as minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) at the time of cataract surgery.
Dr. Nejad graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S in Physiological Sciences from UCLA and earned her MD from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She completed her internship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, then ophthalmology training at UCLA Stein Eye Institute, where she remained on staff after completion of her residency.
In addition to teaching medical students at the David Geffen School for Medicine at UCLA, Dr. Nejad trains the current Stein Eye Institute residents in cataract surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. She has contributed to the medical school ophthalmology curriculum and serves on the residency education and selection committees. She has a number of publications in major journals, including the Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery.
