Nutrition can serve as an essential part of the care package for patients with esophageal disorders.

Having an esophageal disorder can impact the ability to eat in many ways – some patient may need a specialized diets such as for eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) which requires an elimination style diet, to those with trouble swallowing needing meals that are broken down and easy to digest while still being tasty. Unintentional weight loss can be a problematic side effect of having an esophageal condition. Quality of life for these patients can be impacted by their esophageal disorder and, as social creatures, eating is a main way that humans socialize. By coming up with meal plans, brands, cooking tips and grocery lists, patients with esophageal issues can still enjoy the pleasures of dining out with friends or in with family.
