When you donate to the Rape Treatment Center and Stuart House, you are helping provide free, comprehensive, state-of-the-art treatment for sexual assault victims of all ages.
The Rape Treatment Center at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center, established in 1974, is internationally recognized for its pioneering work and exemplary treatment, prevention and education programs. The RTC has led efforts to advance policy reform, create multiagency partnerships and develop innovative service models that bring justice and compassionate care to victims.
People who turn to the RTC reflect the diversity of our community. They receive highly specialized, 24-hour emergency medical care, forensic services, advocacy, crisis counseling and longer-term trauma-informed psychotherapy.
Stuart House is an innovative, globally renowned model program that provides comprehensive services for sexually abused children and their families in a child-friendly setting. Through a unique multiagency partnership, onsite police detectives, prosecutors, expert child forensic interviewers and advocates work as a team to expedite investigations and child protection actions. Child victims receive 24-hour emergency medical care and forensic services, while skilled therapists provide the specialized treatment essential for their recovery, resilience and long-term well-being.
Education is key to stopping sexual violence before it starts. Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, our prevention and education program, Roads to Respect™, provides high school students with skills to identify high-risk situations, understand all elements of consent, recognize rape culture and support peers. Interactive learning techniques are used to practice bystander intervention and navigate real-world situations. After these classes, students are offered a safe and confidential space to ask questions, get individualized help and, sometimes, disclose their own victimization to our counselors, so they can be connected to resources and pathways to healing.
