Olive View-UCLA Medical Center, a major teaching affiliate of the Department of Neurology and the David Geffen School of Medicine, has been awarded an “A" rating for Quality by the Leapfrog Group. Leapfrog is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American healthcare. The A rating is the highest possible quality metric, and matches the rating that Leapfrog gave UCLA. The Department of Neurology at Olive View-UCLA has 11 faculty, with two new faculty in multiple sclerosis and neuromuscular diseases joining in July. Many of the faculty are recognized as "Best Doctors in America", and "Americas Top Doctors". Faculty have consistently received recognition for outstanding teaching, including UCLA Neurology’s own "Golden Hammer" teaching award for resident teaching. Olive View-UCLA Neurology is also an active site for clinical research projects in stroke, epilepsy, neuroinfectious diseases, neuromuscular diseases and dementia, including NIH funded projects, investigator-initiated, and industry-funded clinical trials. Research at Olive View-UCLA is generously funded by a seed grant from James and Beverly Peters and family.
