UCLA hospitals receive highest patient safety grade

Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and UCLA Health - Santa Monica Medical Center, each received the highest possible “A” grade in a rigorous biannual assessment of quality and safety released today by The Leapfrog Group.

“Receiving this recognition honors your interdisciplinary collaboration and continuous commitment to quality and improvement,” says Johnese Spisso, MPA, president of UCLA Health and CEO of UCLA Hospital System. “It also reflects our comprehensive quality and safety programs.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 performance measures of safety and quality to produce a single letter grade. The assessment of more than 2,600 hospitals nationwide is intended to help patients make informed health care decisions that protect them from medical errors and preventable harm.
