UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, welcomed hospital employees and community members to a colon cancer awareness month event in early March. Gastroenterologists provided information on screening guidelines and prevention, and further educated visitors with a tours of an inflatable colon. Colon cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. The disease is highly treatable and curable if it's caught early through regular colonoscopies.
