Our Journey to Fourth Magnet® Designation
Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (RRUCLA) announced in December, 2020 the achievement of recognition for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Magnet® for the fourth time! Magnet® commision comments included, "There is a dedication to continual standardization of nursing and all clinical practice across UCLA Health with resources that support clinical care, research/evidence-based practice, and professional development. the Magnet® culture is alive and well."
Magnet® recognition is the highest level of validation that the ANCC can present to health care organizations for their patient outcomes, patient and nurse satisfaction and overall quality of patient care. Roughly 9% of hospitals nationally receive Magnet® recognition and only the top 2% of hospitals have achieved it four times. RRUCLA was initially awarded Magnet® Status for Nursing Excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in 2005, with re-designated in 2010, 2015 and again in 2020. This repeated recognition of nursing excellence communicates our commitment to providing evidence-based, innovative and compassionate care to patients, families and our community.
RRUCLA continues on the Magnet® journey, recognizing that excellence occurs from continual monitoring and evaluation of practice, which in turn allows for identification of opportunities for growth and change. We are proud to highlight nursing excellence at RRUCLA through ANCC Magnet® designation and are committed to continuing our tradition of excellence!
Embodying Excellence through Professional Governance
