Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UCLA in Los Angeles, CA

UCLA Obstetrics has a long tradition of excellence in women’s health and quality patient care. We offer general obstetrical care as well as superior specialty care for pregnant women at UCLA.

Obstetrics at UCLA

Our team of expert doctors and certified nurse midwives provides comprehensive yet personalized care to all women, for those with routine deliveries to those with high-risk pregnancies. Our multi-disciplinary team approach allows for the integration with specialists in maternal and fetal medicine, reproductive medicine, and other specialties, as needed.

UCLA’s Maternal and Fetal Medicine Program has obstetricians that specialize in caring for women with a high-risk  pregnancy. We understand that certain conditions during pregnancy, labor and delivery can cause unwanted stress. At UCLA Obstetrics, our specialists care for your unique needs so there is less stress for you, your baby and your family.

Pregnancy Conditions Treated, include:

  • Cervical Insufficiency
  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Infectious disease

At UCLA certified nurse-midwives play an integral role on the obstetrics healthcare team, providing comprehensive pregnancy, birth and postpartum care to women. For additional information >

UCLA Obstetrics also provides our patients access to the UCLA Postpartum Pelvic Floor Health Program, led by a multidisciplinary team of urogynecologists, pelvic floor physical therapists, and pelvic floor radiologists working together to provide individualized care of women after delivery. This includes not only the short-term effects of pregnancy, labor, and birth on the pelvic floor, but we can also help evaluate and manage any potential long-lasting effects from childbirth. For additional information >

With our whole-person approach to care, the Maternal Outpatient Mental health Services (MOMS) Clinic was created to serve the mental health needs of women during the perinatal period. Based on a collaborative care model, the MOMS Clinic provides full psychiatric assessments to women in the OB-GYN setting as a way to minimize access to care issues during this vulnerable time. Patients will benefit from initiation of psychiatric care and provided with tailored resources from our interdisciplinary team led by Misty Richards, MD, MS, Medical Director of Perinatal Psychiatry, and Rashmi Rao, MD, Obstetric Medical Director of Mental Health.

The BirthPlace Westwood and the BirthPlace Santa Monica are comprehensive maternity centers that provide private rooms, family-centered care and offer a wide range of services to make your birthing experience an event to cherish.
