Mexico Collaboration

Latino groups are disproportionately affected by obesity and related cardiometabolic disorders, such as type 2 diabetes. However, despite these fast-growing health problems, they have remained underrepresented in biomedical studies. To address this medical knowledge gap and help resolve the pressing health disparities, we have established the UCLA-IPH-MEX Consortium between the UCLA IPH and Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán (INCMNSZ), Mexico City to elucidate factors underlying Mexicans’ high predisposition to obesogenic cardiometabolic disorders and severe forms of covid-19 infection.
