Research and Clinical Trials

CORE Kidney at UCLA Health runs one of the most active kidney clinical trials programs in the country. Our PKD research spans basic science, applied clinical science, outcomes, and evidence-based studies, with the goal of developing new treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

Patients may be eligible for studies of investigational therapies, natural history, and genetics. Our research team will help you understand your options and decide whether a trial is right for you.

Completed Studies at UCLA

Tesevatinib

  • A Double-blind Randomized Parallel Group Study of the Efficacy and Safety of Tesevatinib in Subjects with Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease. The primary outcome measures are to change the height-adjusted total kidney volume in ADPKD patients in a two year time period. Click here for more information about Tesevatinib in Subjects with ADPKD
  • A Phase 1b/2a, Safety, Pharmacokinetic and Dose-Escalation Study of KD019 in Subjects with Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease. The primary outcome is to analyze a two year time period of change in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in ADPKD patients. Click here for more information about Subjects with ADPKD

Tolvaptan

  • A Phase 3, Multi-center, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled, Parallel-arm Trial to Determine Long-term Safety and Efficacy of Oral Tolvaptan Tablets Regimens in Adult Subjects With Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease.  Click here for more information about Tolvaptan in Subjects with ADPKD
  • A Phase 3b, Multi-center, Randomized-withdrawal, Placebo-controlled, Double-blind, Parallel-group Trial to Compare the Efficacy and Safety of Tolvaptan (45 to 120 mg/Day, Split-dose) in Subjects With Chronic Kidney Disease Between Late Stage 2 to Early Stage 4 Due to Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease. Click here for more information about Tolvaptan in Subjects with ADPKD
  • A Phase 3b, Multi-center, Open-label Trial to Evaluate the Long -Term Safety of Titrated Immediate-release Tolvaptan (OPC 41061, 30 mg to 120 mg/Day, Split Dose) in Subjects with Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease. The primary outcome is to determine the long-term safety of Tolvaptan in ADPKD patients. Click here for more information about Tolvaptan in Subjects with ADPKD
