About MARC

UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC)

The mission of the Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC) is to foster mindful awareness across the lifespan through education and research to promote well-being and a more compassionate society. Mindful awareness (mindfulness) can be defined as paying attention to present-moment experiences with openness, curiosity, and a willingness to be with what is. Mindfulness can be trained systematically, and it can be implemented more fully in daily life by people of any age, profession, or background. MARC offers classes, programs, trainings, and events to UCLA, the Los Angeles community, and to a wider global community through virtual and in-person learning, web resources, and our free app with guided meditations, "UCLA Mindful"

Dear Community,

MARC is currently undergoing a restructuring process and the office will be closed until January 15, 2024.

Our public programs are on hiatus through 2023 with the exception of our free online and in-person drop-in meditations.  The UCLA Mindful app will continue to be available, however, new meditations will not be added during this period.

The end of the year and colder months are often a time to pause and reflect, giving us the opportunity to regroup, reprioritize, and open to the new. We hope you share in the excitement of MARC's hiatus as we explore a number of excellent possibilities for the future.

In Gratitude,

UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center
