Dr. Surina Kajani is a board-certified, primary care physician practicing at UCLA Health in Porter Ranch. She believes the key to a successful doctor patient relationship is through patient empowerment and education. She prides herself on exhibiting compassion, empathy, and understanding, all while providing the most up to date, evidence-based medicine.
Dr. Kajani started her education at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) where she was selected to be part of an accelerated BS/MS program, receiving both an undergraduate (BS) and masters (MS) degree in Biology in 4 years. She followed her passion for medicine and obtained her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and then completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Adventist Health-White Memorial, an affiliate of Loma Linda School of Medicine.
When she is not in the office, Dr. Kajani loves spending time with her family, teaching medical students from David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, cooking, hiking and dancing.
She is fluent in Spanish, Hindi, and Urdu.

It was the first time that I met her. She wanted to know if I had questions or concerns. When I mentioned recurrent headaches and occasional lightheadedness, sho ordered an MRI of the brain. She also helped me complete my advance directive and POLST.

Today was a telemedicine /video visit. Dr Kajani was prompt at the appointment time: no wait. She was cordial and focused 110% on me and my issues. She was well prepared and asked me immediately specific questions about my progress. She explained the medical science in simple terms that I could understand, and advised me and guided me in what to do to continue on the road to fixing my issues between now and our next in person meeting. The depth of her knowledge and clinical expertise, and her focus and dedication to patient-centered care was unquestionable in today’s video session, as they are consistently when I see Dr Kajani in person: Dr Kajani is an excellent doctor.

I had a video visit with Dr Kajani. She’s very pleasant and very knowledgeable about my diabetic condition and the physical therapy I’m receiving for my right leg muscle spasm. Dr Kajani demonstrates concern about these conditions and immediately discussed her plan of action. Dr Kajani listens and did not rush our video meeting. I had an initial "new patient" consultation with Dr. Kajani, who agreed to become my primary care physician, and made an initial appointment for a physical exam. She impressed me as being knowledgeable both about the medical issues I described that I face, and about specialists at UCLA who she recommends for me. I haven't changed internist for 34 years - mine is retiring, so my hand is forced - and Dr. Kajani was very reassuring. I look forward to being in her practice.

I recently had a Zoom appointment with this provider and had such a wonderful experience. She was incredibly kind, professional, and attentive throughout the visit. I especially appreciated how much time she took to answer my questions and truly get to know me as a patient. I never felt rushed, and she made me feel heard and supported. It’s rare to find a physician who combines such professionalism with genuine compassion, and I’m very grateful to be under her care.

We brought a potential new rare diagnosis to her attention and instead of shying away or leaving it to another specialist to worry about, she said the words every rare disease patient want to hear and never does - "That's interesting. Dr Kajani is a very caring doctor. She is kind and respectful of the patients’ need to state and describe what is bothering them, their level of pain, the introverted the pain etc - yet she is very much on top of her task with respect to the basic and the clinical sciences. She instills trust in the patient because she is able to explain to the patient not only the mechanism of what ails them but also the medical plan to tackle it and eventually hopefully resolve it. Dr Kajani is a master of patient-centered medicine in the premier healthcare center that is UCLA.
