Care Compliments

Jeremy D.

I had my annual skin check-up exam with dermatologist Dr. Davis. Though my skin type is not typically prone to skin cancer, I rather be safe than sorry, especially since early detection is key.

Dr. Davis is very pleasant, incredibly knowledgeable and has a knack for breaking down difficult concepts so they are easily understood. He left no stone unturned. He provided a wealth of information while exhibiting excellent bedside manner. Even though the office was quite busy, he was very cordial and professional, taking the time to explain the ins and outs of maintaining healthy skin.

With respect to parking, there was plenty of 2-hour street parking on Clifton Way, the street parallel to and just south of Wilshire Boulevard. In less than five minutes walking, I reached the medical building. (The building has an underground lot, entrance on Carson (on 12/16/20, the rates were $1.50 every 15 minutes with a $20 maximum).

I walked away from the appointment infinitely better versed about all matters skin and very grateful to have been under the care of Dr. Davis. In addition, I learned a little Italian as well.

I recommend Dr. Davis without exception or reservation.

P.S. SUGGESTION FOR UCLA HEALTH (nothing to do with Dr. Davis): My only suggestion is the exam room should have a dedicated space to leave one's clothing since one has to undress to put on the exam gown. A small closet/wardrobe with hangers would be a fine addition. (The two chairs next to the small desk were not good options since they were for the patient and doctor to sit on.)

Dr. Hsu is an extraordinary physician! She was my provider throughout my pregnancy and delivered my first baby via c-section. The kindness, competence, attention to detail, professionalism, and thoughtfulness she demonstrated during my labor and delivery were noticed not only by myself and my husband but our families waiting anxiously as well. I really cannot express how much she has touched my life (and my baby's) in such a positive way and any patient lucky enough to have her as their healthcare provider is blessed. Thanks Dr. Hsu!

I am the daughter of patient, Javier. I would like you to look up his records, and thank every single Team, Doctor, Nurse, Resident & Staff Member that was in my Father's life during the last month he was in the hospital. He was admitted and passed away in the ICU on 12/12. He started off in Ghonda Observation and moved to the 7th floor, then to ICU, then to the 7th floor again, and back to ICU. With that said, he was around many different UCLA staff members. I couldn't be any more thankful on how everyone treated my Dad. They cared for him, and even though his condition was critical, they continued to fight for my Dad and did whatever they could to get him strong enough to go home. When my Dad was first admitted, he wanted to go home right away, but during his last days, he wanted to stay. He said to me that he was happy where he was at, in his words, "They are the BEST here, and they take care of me." My Dad was a fighter and the staff members stood by his side to fight with and for him. My Dad also shared with me that he made some friends there with the staff. They would have a conversation with him, and that alone makes my heart smile. My family and I couldn't be any more thankful then we already are. My Dad's team not only attended to my Dad, but they were also great supporters with his family. They always made sure we were comfortable, and constantly asked if we needed anything. I even had an RN talk to me about my Father one evening. She wanted to know about him, I shared photos and we cried together. The staff not only did their job, but they did it with a good, sincere, & caring heart. This is not how I pictured sending my gratitude to Ronald Reagan UCLA. As I witnessed the staff care for my Dad, every single day & every minute; I pictured sending you this message with him right next to me having so much joy to have him home for the holidays. It's not until today, that I realized, him being in heaven should bring more JOY because he isn't suffering any longer. He isn't in pain and he is home with Jesus, our LORD.
Wishing you and every staff member at UCLA a Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays. May God continue to watch over you and stay strong for those patient's & families that are suffering. May blessings overflow to you and your loved ones during the holiday season.

Much Love to each and everyone one of you,

Amber Victoria

Your team responded to my house in Torrance last Saturday late morning. My right side was mostly paralyzed and I could not speak. the rapid response and the work you did on me saved my life!!! With all the information you got and passed on to the hospital staff, they had the surgical team standing by and got me into the O R so quickly!!
They were able to go in through artery in groin and were able to remove the entire clot from the side of my head!! I woke up in the ICU around 2:00 and had full use of my arm and leg and with strength to squeeze and resist in all the tests they gave me to do!! Touching nose and finger tips with no problem. Was able to talk with a few stumbles but by Sunday morning could speek very well and could send text messages which I could not do Saturday evening. I was discharged Monday evening and home recovering well!! The point to all this is a heart filled with gratitude from me, family and friends for all you and your amazing team did for me Dr. Nour !!!!!! This whole thing was a Miracle and you were the first in a big part of all that saved me!! My hope is that this is seen by millions and that these units will be available to all who need them someday soon!! Merry Christmas to all of you. I got my Christmas Miracle!!!
Thank you all
Jeff and Dana

Frederick (Fritz) E.

The first time I met Dr Eilber in June of 2008, I had just had surgery for an abd tumor and it was determined that I had Leomyosarcoma and was referred to Dr. Eilber. I first found him very intimidating and rather arrogant. BUT I credit Dr Eilber for saving my life. He told me I had very little chance of living 2 years and here I am 11 years later doing well. He jumped on all the right treatments for me and kept on top of my progress and I came to really respect him. He found my second occurrence in 2013 and immediately sent me for surgery and followed up with chemo. I have since moved to Nevada and have a new doctor but I will always be grateful to Dr. Eilber for his knowledge and expertise in my care and referring me to the right people at the right time. Thank you Dr. Eilber.

Dr. Weimer is literally the best doctor I've ever had! It's easy to talk to her, even about kinda scary stuff like gender issues, because she's a fantastic listener, and makes you feel like you matter. She's great at explaining medications, procedures, and other complicated health stuff, and I felt way more informed as her patient than I ever have with another doctor. I feel so lucky to have found her, and to have gotten to transition under her care!

I really like this UCLA Health location. It is very clean and warm and inviting. The staff are very friendly and make sure to treat you in a respectful manner. Today I had Ana P, who welcomed me with a smile from start to finish. She models what good customer service is. Her energy and paying close attention to detail makes you feel like you are more than just a number. Dr. Maddan is very kind as well and very patient. My appointment was at 11:45, and I was seen right on time. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Liz M.

Our family was at 5 North Wing/Geriatrics Unit at UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica for several days for end-of- life care of our mother Concepción, a patient of UCLA since 1994, when she had a liver transplant that extended her life by twenty-five and a half years. Our mom was at the hospital from Sunday November 10th and passed away on Thursday November 14th. The care team at Santa Monica UCLA Hospital in the North Tower, floor 5 was exceptional. Primary nurses Liz Medina and Salve Arreola, and care partner Vimi Ram, were professional, compassionate, caring and very informative and sensitive as they helped keep our mother comfortable and guided us through a painful moment. We are eternally grateful to Liz, Salvi, and Vimi - from the Novoa family.

Ngozi O.

Ngozi was assigned to us several times as my husband (Leonardo) was recovering from kidney transplant surgery. She's just awesome, the best that a person could hope for in a care provider. She's attentive, compassionate, concerned and very knowledgeable. She remembers our preferences and checks on us regularly. She also checks on me regularly (spouse) just to see if I am ok or need anything. It was a joy having her as he was recovering. Thanks Ngozi.

Gabriela B.

Gabriela was assigned to us as a Care Partner when my husband (Leonardo) was recovering from kidney transplant surgery. She's an awesome, dedicated, committed Care Partner who shows compassion and concern. She is responsive and remembers people's preferences. She asked me, the wife, what she could do for me, as well as for my husband who was the patient. We appreciated her so much.

Brenda R.

While I believe Brenda is fairly new, she shows the perfect mix of care, compassion, friendliness and dedication to her job to go far in the medical field. She was assigned to my husband's (Leonardo) care, during his recovery from kidney transplant surgery, and we couldn't have asked for a better Care Partner. She's everything that you hope for when you're recovering from surgery and we're grateful she was assigned to us.

By: Linda B.

Angie R.

Angie was our first nurse assigned to us after my husband's kidney transplant surgery. (my husband is Leonardo). Angie shines in her nursing duties, and her caring, compassionate personality comes out. She's very knowledgeable, very responsive and checks in on us to make sure we're ok. Andre' and I appreciated her calm presence so much as he began his recovery (which turned into 2 admissions, but is going well now) from his transplant. She's just the type of nurse that a person hopes will be assigned to them. Thanks Angie, you're awesome.

Tanicka M.

Just wanted to compliment Miss Tanicka; my husband, (Leonardo) has had 2 admissions, for kidney transplant issues and recovery, and I would run into Tanicka on the floor, going about her duties. We just clicked, she was so kind and I felt I could talk to her, , she was always concerned not only about my husband but also about how I was doing. This is a tough journey for the spouse of the transplant patient, and it was nice having someone actually ask how I was doing on a personal level. We would talk when I would see her around and I appreciate her calm demeanor and her kindness. Thanks Tanicka.

Caitlin M.

Just wanted to recognize Caitlin; she's an awesome volunteer and I hope she has a big future in the medical field. She's kind, caring, concerned and extremely helpful. She's everything one hopes for in their care providers and my husband (Leonardo) and I just wanted to say thanks, she's appreciated.

By: Linda B.

Nikki K.

Nikki is one of the nurses assigned to us during my husband's (Leonardo) 2 admissions for issues regarding his kidney transplant. Nikki is caring, concerned, professional and knowledgeable. We felt like she was 'hearing us' and the level of nursing care was excellent. Just wanted to thank her, she's been awesome and worthy of recognition.

By: Linda B.

Shimran M.

Shimran is the type of Care Partner that people hope to be assigned to them, as they recover. She's kind, responsive, checks in on us (My husband is the patient, Leonardo, recovering from kidney transplant surgery, on 2 admissions). Shimran has a lot of answers, but what she doesn't know she'll go find out for us or provide us with someone who does know. Can't ask for more than that. She remembers my husband's preferences, and brings us things without us having to even ask. She's awesome and we're grateful that she was our Care Partner angel while we were here.

By: Linda B.

Angela P.

Angela has been a fount of invaluable information. She's caring, concerned, very knowledgeable in her field. She's answered all of our questions, (throughout our 2 admissions regarding my husband's (Leonardo) kidney transplant. She's responsive, and stays in touch. That part is important. She's provided all kinds of written info and I read everything. Thanks Angela, for your care. You're invaluable.
