The UCLA GI Fellowship Program is among the largest and most prestigious gastroenterology training programs in the world and provides an unmatched breadth and depth of clinical and research opportunities for its fellows. The UCLA program exposes fellows to a range of clinical experiences, including a major tertiary care university hospital (Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center), a tertiary care VA hospital (VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System), two county hospitals (Harbor-UCLA and Olive View-UCLA Medical Centers), and a community-based, secondary care hospital (UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center). The program features instruction from internationally-recognized world experts in a range of GI fields, including GI bleeding and hemostasis, inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), celiac disease, GI immunology, esophagology, neurogastroenterology, functional GI and motility disorders, nutrition, obesity, pancreaticobiliary disorders, hepatology, small bowel disorders, epidemiology, health services research, GI pathology, and peptic ulcer disease, among others. The program emphasizes research and offers support through a range of funding mechanisms, including the UCLA STAR Program, NIH training grants and donor supported seed grants

We are especially proud of our ongoing efforts to further modernize our program into a dynamic training experience for future academicians. We offer both a research scholar track and a clinical scholar track within our program. Learn more about these exciting and unique tracks in our program overview page
