The Aging Cluster
The Aging Cluster is part of the award-winning UCLA Cluster Program, which offers year-long interdisciplinary courses for first-year undergraduate students. All Cluster courses are taught by teams of faculty and highly trained Teaching Assistants. Clusters have been proven to provide first-year students with the tools to excel during their college Career. On average, Cluster students graduate earlier and have a higher GPA when they graduate.
Community
Each Cluster course offers a community designed to help first-year undergraduate students transition to UCLA. The Aging Cluster is unique in offering a Community Engaged portion of the class in Winter Quarter, that matches students with opportunities to work with older adults in the LA community as part of the course.
Benefits
Students who complete their year in the Aging Cluster Program:
- satisfy 4 General Education Requirements
- satisfy the Writing II Requirement
- satisfy the Diversity Requirement
- can use the course as minor requirements for Gerontology and Global Health minors, as well as a pre-major requirement for the Disability Studies major
How to Enroll
First-Year students enroll in Clusters during their Summer Orientation session before the Fall quarter of their first year. They enroll in it just like any other course (no application required).
