Neurosurgical Skull Base Fellowship

The Neurosurgical Skull Base Fellowship is co-directed by Gregory P. Lekovic, MD, PhD

The UCLA Neurosurgical Skull Base fellow will perform the following operations and more; advanced craniotomy for brain tumor (resection of petroclival meningioma, vestibular schwannoma, tuberculum sella meningioma, stereotactic radiosurgery of a parasellar tumor), complex craniotomy for brain tumor (resection of other meningiomas, pituitary tumors).

The fellow will become a competent member of multiple multidisciplinary teams involved int eh care of neurosurgical skull base patients. The Skull Base program works closely with these UCLA Health departments; Head and Neck Surgery, Oculoplastics and Radiation Oncology. The fellow is expected to participate in the monthly Pituitary Tumor Conference, Lateral Skull Base Tumor Conference, Transorbital Tumor Conference and the weekly meetings for the Brain Tumor Board and CNS Radiation Oncology Board.

Completing a fellowship at UCLA Neurosurgery provides the unique opportunity to work with patients in various settings across three different sites, work alongside outstanding neurosurgeons in a nationally top-ranked program and participate in cutting edge research. This fellowship provides an excellent chance to foster teaching skills by working with and teaching the 21 resident complement.

Eligibility: 

  • Candidates must hold (or be able to obtain prior to the start of the fellowship) an unrestricted California Physician & Surgeon license. The Medical Board of California requires a minimum of 24 months of postgraduate training in an ACGME-accredited U.S. program as a prerequisite for this license. Applicants should be aware that California medical license processing typically takes approximately 6 months and should plan accordingly.
