Mobile Eye Clinic

Our volunteer and intern program is currently at capacity. If you are still interested in joining us, please email [email protected].

Volunteer:

Being a Mobile Eye Clinic volunteer is a great opportunity for those interested in optometry, ophthalmology, public health, or any area within the health/nonprofit fields. We are flexible and try to tailor our program to meet the interests and expertise of our volunteers. Volunteers help us with a multitude of tasks that contribute to our mission and programs such as:

  • Data entry
  • Office work (i.e. filing, organizing glasses, taking inventory, compliance calls)
  • Assisting technicians at health fairs/pop-up clinics
  • Conducting research on various topics (i.e. Medicare, non-profit organizations)

Intern:

UMEC also offers internship opportunities. To be considered for an internship, a greater time commitment is required: 80-100 hours during a 10-week quarter. Students are required to obtain coursework credit through their major’s department or school (UCLA 195 or 195CE courses, or similar). Interns complete similar duties to volunteers, as well as an additional project for the term.
