The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine offers a one-year post-sophomore/junior fellowship in pathology. After an orientation period, fellows are given patient care responsibilities similar to first-year residents with appropriate supervision. Fellows rotate on various anatomic and clinical pathology services including surgical pathology, transfusion medicine, hematopathology, clinical chemistry, and autopsy, amongst others, at the UCLA Medical Center. Depending on interest and feasibility, opportunities exist for clinical/translational research and clinical electives.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. medical school and have completed at least two years prior to the fellowship. The following documents must be submitted via the UC Recruit portal for Fellowship consideration:
- Curriculum vitae
- Personal statement
- 3-4 letters of recommendation
- USMLE Step 1 (if applicable)
- An additional letter of good academic standing from curricular Dean or equivalent
Please contact Student Affairs Coordinator, Victoria Amador, with questions regarding the fellowship. Applications are accepted November 1st through April 30th of the year preceding the fellowship.
