Welcome to the Department of Radiation Oncology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Our faculty and staff are dedicated to delivering conscientious and compassionate care for our patients while offering attentive support to our patient's families. You will find that our "patient centered" approach is complimented by our mission to advance cancer treatment through research and its translation to patient care.

There has never been a more opportune time in medical history for making rapid significant advances in cancer treatment. Only medical institutions with the best clinical, translational, and basic scientific research infrastructure are able to directly integrate the recent advances in molecular biology, radiation biology and medical imaging of cancer with the new and highly precise techniques in radiation delivery to improve patient care and treatment outcome. This is the UCLA advantage.

The UCLA Department of Radiation Oncology's extraordinary patient care team leaders consist of innovative physicians, medical physicists and research scientists. This extraordinary team, coupled with the most state-of-the-art technology, creates the highest probability of superior treatment outcomes for cancer patients. Our outstanding researchers, leaders in their field, are able to take advantage of working within a world renown research university to create novel and innovative approaches to overcome difficult oncology problems.

The UCLA Department of Radiation Oncology pushes back the boundaries that limit ordinary clinical cancer treatment through the application of thoughtful discovery-based, novel treatment strategies. For decades, radiation researchers at UCLA have had a pre-eminent international reputation in advancing our understanding of the natural biology of the cancer and its cure by radiation therapy. This depth of knowledge has led to unique treatment strategies that have had a major impact around the world. The tradition to allow research to optimize patient treatment strategies continues!

Our simple aim is to improve the lives of our patients. We have a burning desire to improve patient care through research, learning and teaching. This is our mission. It is a mission we share with our patients and with a world dedicated to progress towards the cure of cancer.

You are invited to learn more about our department's patient care approach and research programs. We are proud to be part of this great university medical center. We welcome patients from Southern California and beyond.
