Raymi Ramirez, PhD

Dr. Raymi Ramirez earned her bachelor’s degree from Skidmore College where she originally planned on continuing in an astrophysics research career. She gave up one side of the electromagnetic spectrum for the other when she received her graduate school education from UCLA’s CAMPEP Accredited Physics and Biology in Medicine Program under the mentorship of Dr. Kyunghyun Sung.

Throughout her doctoral studies, she devoted her focus to investigating quantitative MR imaging capabilities in oncologic and obstetric applications. Through this work she was able to present at several conferences and received an oral presenters award through ISMRM’s trainee program in 2024. While originally from the Dominican Republic, Dr. Ramirez primarily grew up in inner city Boston before giving up puffer jackets for surfboards.

Dr. Ramirez is passionate about inclusivity in Radiation Oncology with the hopes of encouraging precision medicine practices through cutting edge interdisciplinary collaborations. Her diverse background allows for her to combine foundational physics, machine learning, imaging, and data science for future clinical innovations. Dr. Ramirez is extremely interested in expanding her career to push clinical innovation, improving clinical workflows, and mentoring future physicists.
