Richard Duan MD

Dr. Richard Duan was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. He attended the University of Pennsylvania where he first became interested in cancer care through his research on cancer cell metabolism and tumor development. He graduated with a B.A. in Biochemistry and M.S. in Chemistry as a Vagelos Molecular Life Sciences scholar.

After, he attended medical school at Northwestern University, where he regularly volunteered at a mobile clinic serving the unhoused population of Chicago. He also studied non-small cell lung cancer treatment patterns and immunotherapy responses in patients with adenoid cystic carcinoma. Through his research and clinical rotations, Dr. Duan discovered the therapeutic power of radiation therapy and ability to provide personalized care for each patient. He graduated with the Gayle E. Woloschak Award for Excellence in Radiation Oncology.

He completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Harbor-UCLA and is excited to continue his training at UCLA.  In his free time, he enjoys exploring the LA food scene and playing racquet sports, pickleball included.
