Sylvia Choo MD
Dr. Sylvia Choo was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. She attended Stanford University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Classics with a minor in Biology. After, she attended medical school at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine where she became interested in Radiation Oncology through research on virtual reality for pancreatic cancer patients undergoing MRI-guided radiation therapy. While at USF, Dr. Choo was deeply involved with creating educational podcasts for medical students for Applied Radiation Oncology and writing for The Pulse, USF Health’s student-run newspaper. Outside of her scientific manuscripts and prose pieces, her poetry has been published in JAMA.
Prior to joining UCLA’s Radiation Oncology Residency Program, Dr. Choo completed her preliminary year in Internal Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. Her academic interests include patient quality of life, medical education, and medical humanities, which she looks forward to continuing as a Bruin.
