JEDI Trailblazer Award
Dr. Mark S. Litwin, UCLA Urology professor and chair, received a 2023 UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine JEDI Trailblazer Award. This award recognizes years of commitment embodying leadership and excellence in advancing ideals of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

UCLA urologists receive Young Investigator Award
Dr. Wayne Brisbane and Dr. Adam Weiner have each been awarded the Young Investigator Award from the Prostate Cancer Foundation to support work in improving the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. They are among only twenty-eight researchers receiving the awards.

Carol Bennett receives ABWP lifetime achievement award
Dr. Carol Bennett, professor of urology, has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Association of Black Women Physicians. Bennett, who was the nation’s first Black woman in the field of urology, was honored by the association for her significant contributions to the field.

2023 AUA Rising Star in Urology
Dr. Kymora Scotland, assistant professor of urology and director of endourology research, has been awarded the 2023 AUA Rising Star in Urology for her research proposal, “Elucidating the Role of Biofilm-Forming Bacteria in Nephrolithiasis.” The AUA awards this highly competitive and prestigious grant to only one individual in the country each year to provide supplemental research funds.

Research
Our faculty has been instrumental in making major breakthroughs, and some of our discoveries have revolutionized the diagnosis and treatment of urologic conditions, while others have improved upon breakthroughs made at other research facilities or academic medical centers.

UCLA Urology has at the core of its mission to educate and train the next generation of leading physicians and scientists. We are committed to providing excellent training through a mixture of clinical experience, didactic material, research and investigative pursuits.
