Underrepresented Resident Mentorship Program
Mentorship Program for African American Urology Residents
Welcome from the Program Director
Hello! The R. Frank Jones Urological Society and the UCLA Department of Urology have developed the Underrepresented Resident Mentorship Program (URMP) to address the issue of support for Residents of Color.
The AUA census reveals that only 2% of Urologists are Black and 3.9% Hispanic/Latinx.
Our goal is to increase the numbers of residents who complete residency and progress to careers in urology by providing mentorship throughout the residency process by mentors who understand some of the unique struggles that are faced by residents of color.

How the Program Works
The residents get to choose a personal mentor. Each urology resident will match with (1) one available mentor from the roster. Residents can learn more about the volunteer mentors from the roster.
Residents should provide us with their top 3 desired mentors. The matching process is on a first come, first serve basis. Once a pairing has been finalized, we will contact each mentor-mentee pair so you can get started!
