COVID-19 Visitor Guidelines April 5, 2022
The below represents current visitor guidelines for UCLA Health hospitals and clinics.
Please note:
- Visitors must wear a face mask that covers their nose and mouth at all times.
- If you’ve tested positive for COVID-19, please postpone any patient visitation until 10 days have passed.
- If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, please do not visit.
- We strongly recommend that all visitors are vaccinated and have received a booster.
- If you are visiting for multiple consecutive days, proof of a negative COVID-19 test is only required every third day. This means that testing is only required on day 1, day 4, day 7, etc.
Visitor guidelines by patient population

Adult patients (no COVID-19)
- Adult patients (no COVID-19), including semi-private rooms: 2 healthy visitors at a time. Must be either fully vaccinated or have proof of a negative test result within 2 days for a PCR test or 1 day for an antigen test.
- Adult patients (no COVID-19), near death: 2 healthy visitors at a time. Imminent death determined by clinical team during scheduled clinical meetings for goals of care discussions.
Labor & Delivery
- Labor & Delivery (no COVID-19): 2 healthy visitors at a time, one of which may be a doula. Must be either fully vaccinated or have proof of a negative test result within 2 days for a PCR test or 1 day for an antigen test. Visitation for siblings may be arranged on a case-by-case basis.
Pediatric patients
- Pediatric patients (no COVID-19): 2 healthy visitors. Must be either fully vaccinated or have proof of a negative test result within 2 days for a PCR test or 1 day for an antigen test. Visitation for siblings may be arranged on a case-by-case basis.
NICU babies
- Ronald Reagan and Santa Monica: 2 healthy parents, guardians, grandparents or designated visitors at a time, who must be either fully vaccinated or have proof of a negative test result within 2 days for a PCR test or 1 day for an antigen test. Parents may identify up to 4 designated visitors. For details, speak with your NICU nurse. Visitors may be asked to step out if the department becomes overcrowded. Visitation for siblings may be arranged on a case-by-case basis.
COVID Positive patients
- COVID Positive patients: No visitors at this time. Virtual visits are available.
- COVID Positive patients – Near death: 2 healthy visitors allowed for a 2-hour visit. Imminent death determined by clinical team during scheduled clinical meetings for goals of care discussions.
- COVID Positive – Pediatric patients: 1 healthy parent/guardian at a time, who must be either fully vaccinated or have proof of a negative test result within 2 days for a PCR test or 1 day for an antigen test. Parent must stay in room for duration of stay.
- COVID Positive – Labor & Delivery patients: 1 healthy visitor. Must be either fully vaccinated and have proof of a negative test result within 2 days for a PCR test or 1 day for an antigen test. Visitor must stay in room for duration of stay. Operating room entry is restricted due to significant space limitations.
Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital patients
- RNPH is permitting one healthy visitor per patient, each day. Visitation cannot be split or shared between multiple visitors. Telephone calls remain available for those unable to visit in person.
Unit specific visitation:- 4E: 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
- 4N: 5 pm - 6 pm
- 4W: 6 pm - 7 pm
- Visitors must show proof of full vaccination, or proof of a negative test result within 2 days for a PCR test or 1 day for an antigen test.
- If patients are in semiprivate rooms, one patient will have their visitor during regular unit visiting hours and the other patient will have their visiting time during the subsequent hour, to be arranged by unit staff.
- Visitors must:
- Stay in the patient’s room while in the unit
- Maintain 6 feet of physical distance in all areas, including the patient’s room
- Wear a face mask at all times (provided)
Same Day Surgery patients
- 1 healthy visitor at a time. Must be either fully vaccinated or have proof of a negative test result within 2 days for a PCR test or 1 day for an antigen test. Visitor will be assigned to a designated waiting room.
Emergency Departments

Ronald Reagan and Santa Monica Medical Centers: 1 healthy visitor at a time.

Pediatric patients: 2 healthy visitors/guardians at a time.

Visitors may be asked to leave if the department becomes overcrowded.

Visitors must:
- Be flu/COVID symptom-free
- Check in with ED security badge
- Wear a mask at all times
- Stay in the patient’s room

Visitors with patients slated for admission must check in at the main lobby information desk to receive a visitor badge prior to going to the patient room.

Ambulatory clinic patients:

1 healthy visitor at a time.

2 healthy parents/guardians allowed for pediatric visits.
Infusion area patients:

1 healthy visitor at a time.

2 healthy parents/guardians allowed for pediatric visits.

Access your COVID-19 digital vaccine record: You can find your digital COVID-19 vaccine record within myUCLAhealth under COVID-19 Information or Immunizations. Within the myUCLAhealth (MyChart) app, you can find your digital record by clicking on the “My COVID Info” icon. If your vaccine info is missing in myUCLAhealth or incorrect, please let your primary care office know.
You can also request your record through the California Department of Public Health’s Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record website. Please note that UCLA Health has no control over the state vaccine record website. If you have any questions, please see their FAQ or call 833-422-4255.
