Santa Monica Outpatient Center

Opened in September of 2016, the Santa Monica Outpatient Center (SMOC) serves patients that require a hemodialysis permacath placement, exchange or removal and those patients experiencing problems with an established dialysis access, such as an arteriovenous (AV) fistula or graft or peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheter.  SMOC was established in response to the urgent needs of dialysis patients treating in the surrounding communities.  Patients no longer have to go through the emergency department to receive these critical procedures.

To schedule a patient: 

  • Call the Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Comprehensive Care Coordinator at (310) 206-3545
  • Call the Interventional Radiology (IR) Scheduling Department at (310) 825-5565 (option #3), Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. 
  • After-hour care is available by contacting the IR fellow through the page operator at (310) 825-6301.
  • Given the unique needs of all patients, the CKD Comprehensive Coordinator or IR Schedulers will go through a series of questions with you to determine whether an individual can best be accommodated at SMOC

Outpatient procedures are also performed at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center.
