UCLA Health article

The UCLA Medical Alumni Association has chosen Dr. Timothy A. Miller, professor and chief of plastic surgery at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, as the 2011 Alumnus of the Year.   Miller, a 1963 graduate of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, will receive the award during the All-Class Reunion at the UCLA Neuroscience Research Building on August 20.

The award recognizes an alumnus or alumna from the school who has served as a model by making outstanding contributions to the school, medicine, or society as a whole.

Miller also serves as executive director of UCLA's Operation Mend program, a unique collaboration among Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, Texas, and the V.A. Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System.   Started in 2007, the program provides free reconstructive plastic surgery and other medical specialties necessary to help to military personnel wounded and disfigured, primarily by roadside bombs, during service in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The UCLA Medical Alumni Association is a dynamic and distinguished professional network of over 10,000 lifetime members which includes all David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA graduates, current and past interns and residents, and faculty members.
