Students at North Hollywood’s East Valley High School will receive a state-of-the art fitness center thanks to a new partnership between UCLA Health System and the Sound Body Sound Mind Foundation. Sound Body Sound Mind will announce a $3 million pledge to create UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind, a new entity to combat childhood obesity and promote healthy lifestyles in Los Angeles by enhancing physical education programs and fitness resources for inner-city middle school and high school students.
Since 1999, the Sound Body Sound Mind Foundation has provided fitness resources, trained physical education teachers and promoted exercise and healthy living to Los Angeles students. To date, 89 schools in the Los Angeles area have received grants through Sound Body Sound Mind.
