Moms of pediatric patients treated to Mother's Day beauty event and photo session at UCLA
Moms and their hospitalized kids will get an early Mother's Day treat they'll never forget when the playroom at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital is transformed into a working photography studio, complete with skilled photographers and professional hair and makeup artists from the John Paul Mitchell salon.
Stylists will pamper each mom and prepare them for a photo shoot with their child, as part of a program developed by the nonprofit Flashes of Hope. Depending on the child's health, some styling sessions and photo shoots may take place in the child's hospital room.
11 a.m.–2 p.m., Thursday, May 6
UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital, 5th floor playroom (map)

Flashes of Hope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating uplifting portraits of children fighting life-threatening illnesses. For a few magical moments, children who haven't wanted to get out of bed are suddenly laughing, smiling and sharing their unique personalities. Flashes of Hope provides all photography free. John Paul Mitchell stylists are donating their time and services on behalf of Kindle My Heart, a program that empowers and supports girls through meditation, art and beauty.
