Name Inspiration

“My grandfather was a physician and my mother was a lactation consultant, so I knew I wanted to go into women’s health,” says Eyelle Sacher, a certified nurse midwife at UCLA Health. “In college, I took an elective called Women’s Childbirth and Culture and learned about childbirth all around the world. I learned about nurse midwifery and thought, that’s what I want to do with my life. I’m able to support a mother doing childbirth and give personalized care. I had one patient who didn’t have a name picked out during childbirth and when I saw her during her postpartum exam she said, ‘I named my baby Eyellette because I loved your name while I was in labor. I really wanted to name my baby after you.’”
