AIDS Walk Los Angeles

AIDS Walk Los Angeles is an annual 10K fundraising walk held in downtown Los Angeles that benefits APLA Health and several other local HIV service organizations, including the UCLA CARE Center. Registration is free.
Models of Pride Conference
UCLA Health supported the annual Models of Pride 2018 LGBTQ youth conference resource fair at Cal State Los Angeles on October 20. With more than 2,000 attendees, the Resource Fair provides an opportunity for youth to find support and resources from all over Los Angeles and beyond and know they are not alone. UCLA Health staff shared information about our LGBTQ Health Initiative and our system's related services, including the EMPWR Program and the Gender Health Program.
National Coming Out Day!
October 11, 2018 marks the 30th anniversary of National Coming Out Day when we celebrate those coming out as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) or as an ally. UCLA Health and the UCLA Gender Health Program honor all who have come out as LGBTQ and we are here to support U!

Join Khush Cooper, MSW, PhD, for a discussion about the first ever LGBTQ Youth Preparedness Scan for LA County, which assesses all 11 youth-relevant county departments' capacity to properly serve LGBTQ children, youth, and families.
LA Pride festival and parade
UCLA Health made its inaugural appearance at the 2018 LA Pride Festival and Parade in West Hollywood on June 9 and 10. This is part of our LGBTQ Health Initiative to provide compassionate, inclusive and equitable care to our diverse community of patients and their families, and support our staff who help make UCLA Health No. 1 in Los Angeles.
LA Pride participants had a chance to visit our UCLA Health booth to show their support, learn more about our LGBTQ Health Initiative and the UCLA Gender Health Program, and about our participation in this year's festival and parade in West Hollywood.

Lunch Lecture: Addressing Mental Health Disparities and Barriers for Transgender and Gender Diverse Patients

In this case-based presentation, Natalie Ramos, MD will discuss existing disparities among gender non-conforming and transgender patients and explore how clinicians and trainees can provide more effective, sensitive mental health care. Real clinical cases will be used to explore challenging issues that arise in working with LGBTQ+ adolescents and their families.

The SoCal LGBTQIA Health Conference, which UCLA Health and David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA support as member institutions, will focus on how health care workers can advocate for the LGBTQIA community.
