The Leslie and Susan Gonda Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Canter, a part of the Division of Medicine, is dedicated to restoring and maintaining optimum physiology of critically ill cardiac patients with:
- Heart failure
- Cardiomyopathy
- Pre heart transplant evaluation
- Post heart transplant medical management
- CAD
- ACS
- MI
- Arrhythmias
The multidisciplinary approach to heart disease diagnosis and treatment makes use of cutting edge interventional cardiology, the Hypothermia Protocol, protective lung strategies, daily interruption of sedation and assessment for extubation, as well as invasive monitoring such as with pulmonary artery catheters and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP).
