How to Apply

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements by the residency appointment date:

» Graduation from a Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME)-accredited medical school in the United States or Canada

» Satisfactory completion of an ACGME approved internship in medicine or surgery

» Satisfactory completion of the USMLE, Part 3
 

Graduates of foreign medical schools may be considered for residency appointments with proper documentation from:

Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates
ECFMG J-1 clinical visa required. More information is available through the David Geffen School of Medicine Visa and Licensing Office

Medical Board of California
PTAL or California Medical License required.

Applicants who are not United States citizens should refer to the David Geffen School of Medicine Visa and Licensing Office about UCLA-sponsored visas.

Application Process

Applicants to the Ophthalmology Residency Program at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA must apply through SF Match. Only applications received directly from SF Match will be considered. Deadline to submit applications is September 1.

Applicants to the EyeSTAR Program must submit a supplemental EyeSTAR Program Application along with three EyeSTAR Program Evaluation Forms and letters of recommendation. These should be sent directly to the Stein Eye Institute EyeSTAR Program following the instructions on the forms. The program administrator must receive all supplemental application materials by September 1.
 

Interviews 

Applicants selected for personal interviews with members of the Residency Selection Committee are notified via e-mail in October.
