Next Generation Effects of Obesity Treatments

Brief Summary

This study evaluates the effects of commonly used obesity treatments, glucagon-like peptide-1 analogs (GLP-1s) and sleeve gastrectomy (SG), on glucose metabolism and insulin resistance during pregnancy and its effects on the baby’s metabolism. The goal is to determine how obesity treatments impact maternal and fetal health, with a focus on long-term effects for future generations.

Observational

Eligibility

  1. Are in your second half of pregnancy
  2. Struggle with weight issues OR have received treatment to manage weight (metabolic bariatric surgery or GLP-1 medication) prior to pregnancy

Study Participation

  1. Three study visits: (1) during the second half of pregnancy, (2) delivery and post-natal, (3) three months postpartum.
  2. You will receive up to $200 for participating in the study. Parking will be paid.
