Effective problem solving requires evidence-based solutions. Traditionally, injury prevention and surgical disease have not been not prioritized by local and global public health authorities. Building a broad research base for injury prevention and global surgery is essential to bringing attention and resources to these issues that are commensurate with their public health burden.
