The UCLA Cardiac Arrhythmia Center Research Program:

The UCLA Cardiac Arrhythmia Center has a strong focus on clinical and translational research. The center has approximately 20 clinical trials in progress or development. Many of our trials are physician initiated with a strong desire to find new and innovative methods and treatments for our patients. We also participate in NIH and industry sponsored trials that support our clinic's vision and mission. Our trials include a focus on arrhythmia management such as cardiac devices, medications and procedures such as cardioversion, ablations, and lead extractions.

There are approximately 200 scientific journal articles published by our center on PubMed. The articles are posted on PubMed that comprises of more than 25 million citations for biomedical literature.

Below are listed our current trials that are actively enrolling patients. Other trials can be located on the clinicaltrials.gov website.

Title: Multicenter Automatic Defibrillator Implantation Trial - Chemotherapy Induced Cardiomyopathy (MADIT-CHIC)

Study Aim: To determine if CRT-D in patients with chemotherapy induced cardiomyopathy will improve the patient's LVEF.
Principal Investigator: Eric Yang, M.D, FACC
Co-Investigators: Noel Boyle M.D, PhD; Shelly Cote, RN, NP; Julie M. Sorg, RN, MSN

Title: Mechanism Behind the Benefit of Neuraxial Modulation in Patients with Ventricular Arrhythmias

Study Aim: To examine how the nerves of the heart impact abnormal heart rhythms.
Principal Investigator: Marmar Vaseghi, M.D, PhD
Co-Investigators: Kalyanam Shivkumar, M.D, PhD; Jason Bradfield, M.D;  Shelly Cote, RN, NP; Julie M. Sorg, RN, MSN

Title: Electrophysiological Effects of Neural Remodeling of the Ventricle

Study Aim: To examine the heart's electrical behavior as it relates to the origin of fast and dangerous heartbeats in the ventricles.
Principal Investigator: Kalyanam Shivkumar, M.D, Ph.D
Co-Investigators: Aman Mahajan, M.D., Ph.D; Marmar Vaseghi, M.D.;  Shelly Cote, RN, NP
