Loss of vision is partial or total inability to see. Loss of vision may be used to describe a complete inability to perceive light, or to describe certain visual limitations caused by the loss of one aspect of vision. For example, tunnel vision results from the total loss of peripheral vision, although central vision remains. Other eye conditions, such as diabetic retinopathy, may cause blind spots in the field of vision, although the patient is still able to see.
