Specialty Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic (SPOC)

Clinic Overview

The Specialty Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic (SPOC) provides psychiatric and psychological outpatient care for patients across a broad range ages and mental health difficulties. Patients enter the clinic by way of a psychiatric consultation with one of our SPOC psychiatrists. The initial consultation with a psychiatrist will be used to determine each patient’s fit with SPOC. Once continued care is established with a SPOC psychiatrist, patients can be referred to a SPOC therapist for weekly therapy. Patient appointments may be offered through video platform or in-person based on clinician preference, clinical need, or insurance coverage. 

At SPOC, we value the team-based approach to comprehensive behavioral health treatment. Our team consists of psychiatrists, therapists, and care coordinators.

Patient Referrals

The patients we serve at SPOC come to us from several sources, including other UCLA medical specialists, the UCLA Behavioral Health Associates Program (primary care integrated behavioral health program), and other clinics within the Department of Psychiatry.

Clinic Location and Contact Information

Most of the patient care through SPOC occurs via video platform. A clinician may provide appointments in-person on the UCLA Department of Psychiatry campus based on clinical judgement. Additionally, appointments will be offered in-person if the patient’s insurance does not cover telehealth appointments.
