Welcome to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSoM) at UCLA

As the Chair of UCLA OBGYN, I am thrilled to lead a department whose primary mission is to provide excellence in women's healthcare. We are entering an exciting growth phase, expanding the areas of clinical care for our patients, educational training for our trainees, and cutting-edge research that improves knowledge and advances healthcare for all women. The combined efforts of our exceptional group of physicians, midwives, nurses, researchers, and staff, sets the foundation for us as leaders in the delivery of women's medical care.

The mission of UCLA OBGYN is to provide comprehensive personalized care for women, emphasizing the whole patient. In service of that mission, our team of compassionate doctors and nurses work together to provide expertise, balancing state-of-the-art therapies with a traditional holistic approach, in general obstetrics and gynecology as well as in the subspecialties of maternal and fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology and family planning. Our labor and delivery units at both Ronald Reagan Medical Center and Santa Monica Hospital approach each pregnancy as a patient and family centric experience from the availability of a midwifery, to differing state-of-the-art options for pain relief, to management of complicated gestations in a tertiary setting. We encourage breast feeding practices, as well as recognizing that each person needs personalized postpartum support.

We are equally committed to providing a robust and rigorous training ground for future physician-scientists. Our integrated and multidisciplinary residency and fellowship programs are structured to train academically oriented obstetrics and gynecologists, innovative scientists and world leaders in women's health. We have nationally recognized fellowships in Family Planning, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Urogynecology, Gynecologic Oncology and Reproductive Endocrinology, preparing our graduates for distinguished careers in clinical practice, education, research, and public policy and service.

Our physicians are nationally and internationally recognized not only for their clinical expertise but also for their pioneering research. Our department has ongoing research in the areas of high risk pregnancies, postpartum depression, polycystic ovarian syndrome, elucidation of the genetic basis of congenital birth defects, and cutting-edge work in advancing cures for ovarian and endometrial cancers.

Each and every day we remain focused on our mission to provide exceptional innovative translational medicine (bench to bedside) allowing for superior patient care, while advancing education, science, and community service.

We welcome you to OBGYN at the DGSoM at UCLA!

Sincerely,

Krakow Signature
