The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UCLA has a long tradition of excellence in women's health care and ranks among the best in the country. We are ranked #8 nationally and #1 in California in the most recent U.S. News & World Report survey.

Research

The UCLA Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is committed to basic, translational and clinical research in a quest to develop new treatments and cures for a wide array of women's health conditions. Our department has ongoing research in the areas of high-risk pregnancies, postpartum depression, polycystic ovarian syndrome, elucidation of the genetic basis of congenital birth defects, cutting-edge work in advancing cures for ovarian, cervical and endometrial cancers, global health and a robust clinical trials program.

Education

One of the core pillars of the UCLA Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s mission is to train the next generation of providers and researchers devoted to improving women’s health. We provide excellent training for our medical students, residents and fellows through a mixture of clinical experience, didactic material, research and investigative pursuits. We focus on providing a thorough education that provides the training of a well-rounded, academic obstetrician-gynecologist – one who excels in the medical, surgical and research aspects of our specialty.
