Patient-Focused Technology Council

The Patient-focused Technology Council was developed to bring patients and care providers and information technology together to:

  • Obtain first-hand feedback and suggestions from patients on our current and future information technology initiatives
  • Serve as a focus group and advisory resource to our information technology teams.

Areas of Focus

As a participant, you will have the opportunity to try out new technology and share your story and experience with other members. The main areas of focus will be:

  • myUCLAhealth (patient portal)
  • How technology can improve the patient experience
  • Ways to improve patient satisfaction
  • Ways to integrate mobile apps
  • Questionnaires and patient-entered data
  • Accessing patient-education material
  • After-visit summary (discharge instructions)

Who Should Participate

We believe our patients are the best source of this important feedback, so we are looking for patients to serve on this council with experiences in a wide variety of patient care settings such as pediatrics, obstetrics and transplant and are also:

  • Active UCLA inpatients and outpatients
  • Interested in technology
  • Willing to share experiences and insights
  • Good listeners who respect the perspectives of others
  • Able to speak comfortably in a group and respect the perspective of others

Your Commitment

Interested individuals should be available to commit to a one-year term to serve on the council. The council will meet quarterly from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm in Westwood.

What to Expect

Meetings will be a blend of hands-on experience, presentations and discussions. Exact meeting locations will be announced to selected participants. Dinner will be provided and parking will be validated.
